Lead Cafe Barista Wage and Benefits - Full Time

$17.00 per hour. After required waiting periods, benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance. Paid holiday, vacation, and sick time; 401k pension plan; merchandise discount; employee assistance program; and UO Associate ID.

Full-time: 35-40 hours per week, year-round. Hours are primarily 8am-5pm Monday - Friday with some occasional weekends, evenings and special events.

This is a full-time hourly Lead Barista position, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and leadership to Duck Store Cafe team members.The Lead Associate reports to the Campus Stores District Manager.

Lead Cafe Barista Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead staff in daily tasks and customer service techniques

  • Work daily making specialty coffee beverages

  • Take orders and quickly and accurately complete sale transactions on cash register

  • Assist with execution of stocking, merchandising and display plans

  • Maintain a clean and inviting workspace to ensure a positive experience for customers

  • Work in cooperation with all Duck Store locations to assist customers and maintain inventory to meet sales projections and event demand.

  • Accurately maintain inventory records according to procedure to include pricing product, check-in and transfers, and conducting periodic inventory counts

  • Open and close location

  • Provide feedback to store manager for team member performance evaluations

  • Carry out Duck Store's customer service expectations through all work activities

  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Lead Barista Experience and Skills Required

  • Demonstrated ability and strong desire to provide high standard of customer service with enthusiasm and energy

  • Previous experience in specialty coffee, cafe or other food service preferred

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with previous work experience in leadership capacity preferred

  • Strong interest in Duck Store products and aptitude for learning

  • Use of reasoning, independent judgment, and decision making skills to accurately apply variable inventory, sales, and marketing concepts in processing transactions in fast-paced environments

  • High degree of attention to detail and ability to remain productive with customer interruptions

  • Willingness and ability to create and maintain relationships with regular store customers

  • Cafe positions require the ability to stand for long periods of time, manipulate espresso machine, bend, lift and pull merchandise up to 25lbs on a consistent basis.

  • Ability to apply basic math skills to include addition, subtraction and making change quickly.

  • Excellent record of attendance, reliability and initiative in previous employment.
