Security Officer Level I Position

Talen Energy is soliciting candidates, for the Fall of 2025, interested in applying for a Security Officer Level I position in the Security department at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station located near Berwick, Pennsylvania.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. To prevent penetration into Protected/Vital areas and to prevent radiological sabotage by use of deadly/non-deadly force.
2. Access and visitor control officer; to verify and issue the correct credentials and TLDs.
3. Armed search officer and armed vehicle search officer; search of individuals and vehicle for prohibited items as outlined in Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Reg. 10CFR73.55.
4. Armed mobile and armed interior patrol officer; maintain surveillance over assigned areas, responding to alarms and emergency situations and accurately reporting on scene assessments to the Security Control Center.
5. Armed escort officer; responsible for escorting and controlling non-licensee and emergency vehicles and occupants.
6. Armed response force; to stop adversary action threat against SSES.
7. Armed weapons control officer; inventory, inspection and clearing of weapons.
8. Ensure safe handling of weapons during issuance and return.
9. Armed emergency access; to provide all emergency vehicles (ambulances & fire trucks) and emergency personnel to include LLEA (local law enforcement) first aid responders and fireman.
10. Respond to first aid and fire emergencies.

Basic Qualifications:

• High school or equivalent.
• Security Officer Level I shall be fully certified in approximately (80) task certifications.
• To complete CPR and first aid training, Radiation Worker and Plant Access training annually.
• Incumbents must complete all training and certifications as mandated by the Code of Federal Regulations. Medical certification, clearance authorization, psychological certification, first aid responder and professional rescuer CPR.
• Yearly weapons certifications, yearly night qualification on all weapons, job specific certifications, and stringent physical requirements.

Incumbents must possess a Pennsylvania Conceal and Carry Permit 60 days after initial hire date.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement preferred.
