We’re in search of an energetic and detail-oriented person with a great eye for design. This individual should be passionate about the industry, aware of what’s new, what’s changing, and should continually look for ways to incorporate shifts in the industry into their next project. The ideal candidate for this role tinkers with future tech, such as AI and new web technologies, and is a dreamer. This WordPress Developer should be able to work efficiently both individually and as part of a team. Ultimately, our Developers are expected to help plan and manage the tasks of generating profitable results for our clients, while working with an integrated team of agency professionals.

Location: Columbia, SC (Hybrid)

Responsibilities

• Create functional prototypes for clients to preview and provide feedback.
• Deliver high performant, standards-compliant web applications.
• Develop user-centric, functional, and visually appealing web applications.
• Provide updates to existing client websites.
• Troubleshoot and correct bugs that may exist in web applications.
• Maintain established brand requirements through web implementation.
• Remain up to date on emerging technologies and best practices.
• Execute OOP development techniques.
• Experiment with new technologies like AI and automation.
• Make Recommendations, meet deadlines, and work under pressure while juggling multiple projects at the same time.
• Rapidly troubleshoot site outages.
• Adjust your communication style to accommodate different levels of technical understanding.
• Know the technical trade-offs of various approaches, including budget/time estimates.
  The responsibilities are many, various, and not limited to those written in this document.

Requirements

• 5+ years direct industry experience.
• Extensive understanding of WordPress, including building custom themes and plugins.
• Extensive experience with Advanced Custom Fields, creating custom post types and taxonomies, and creating custom user roles.
• Extensive understanding of PHP.
• Understanding of semantic HTML5.
• Understanding of CSS3 and SCSS, including modern layout techniques like Flexbox and Grid.
• Understanding of JavaScript and jQuery.
• Understanding of the implementation and usage of REST API’s and JSON.
• Understanding of modern web animation techniques.
• Understanding of cross-browser compatibility, including testing for browser variances..
• Understanding of high performant Responsive Web Design techniques.
• Understanding of web performance optimization.
• Understanding of creating SEO friendly websites.
• Understanding of version control and best practices.
• Understanding of modern web design concepts, techniques, and best practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills.

Additional Desired Skills: ( While not required, understanding in the following skills is a plus.)

• Knowledge of relationship-based database technologies and concepts used by MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Knowledge of creating accessible web applications (WAI-ARIA / WCAG 2.0 / Section 508 compliance).
• Knowledge of web security considerations.
• Unix command line interface and related tools.
• Knowledge of Managed WordPress Hosting platforms like WP Engine and Flywheel.
• Knowledge of AWS hosting
