The Academy of the Holy Angels an independent Catholic school serving young women in grades six through twelve located in Demarest NJ is seeking applications for a School Controller. This senior financial officer reports directly to the School President and is responsible for overseeing accounting and financial operations of the school. The Controller is responsible for providing accurate and timely financial reporting to the school's senior Administration and the Board of Trustees. The Controller will supervise the finance department staff which includes accounts payable, payroll and benefits and tuition management and is directly involved in the day-to-day operations of the school finance office. Key responsibilities include: Management of all accounting operations- managing the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and other related accounting functions; Financial reporting- preparing and analyzing financial statements and monitoring balance and cash flow statements; Budgeting and Forecasting; Internal Controls and Compliance and Audit preparation.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of five years experience in a school setting (preferably secondary school); strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting principles/regulations; proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel. This role requires excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills along with the ability to work independently and collaboratively, set priorities and meet deadlines. Experience with budgeting, strategic forecasting and financial analysis is a must. This role requires a high level of confidentiality and integrity.
